How to apply: qwatz aiuta i singoli candidati nell’individuazione del supporto economico necessario per la residenza. I residenti sono normalmente sostenuti da fondi governativi, fondazioni, gallerie, sostenitori privati e società, interlocutori con i quali qwatz e i candidati entrano in dialogo di volta in volta, in funzione del candidato e delle motivazioni della sua ricerca.

Molti sponsor supportano l’artista sia per le spese dell’appartamento/studio, sia per le spese quotidiane, per le spese di viaggio, per l’assicurazione e per i materiali di lavoro. Il finanziamento di queste voci dovrà quindi essere discusso caso per caso, a seconda dello sponsor e del progetto di residenza proposto.

Il programma di residenza per artisti e curatori è attivo in ogni momento dell’anno, secondo le disponibilità momentanee; può avere una durata minima di una settimana. Nel periodo che va dal 20 luglio al 1 settembre non sono previste attività e networking.

studios & apt: qwatz fornisce appartamenti/studio dove vivere e lavorare, e la possibilità di utilizzare uno spazio-laboratorio dove sviluppare i lavori altrimenti irrealizzabili negli appartamenti. Gli appartamenti possono essere occupati da massimo due persone.

How to apply: qwatz is a non-profit cultural association. The association does not have its own funds to support resident artists and curators, but it is able to help each individual candidate find financial support for their residence programme. Residents will usually receive financial support from government funds, foundations, galleries, and private and company sponsors with whom qwatz and the candidates meet on occasions in order to discuss the specific needs of candidates and their own particular artistic interests.

Many sponsors help meet the fixed costs of a residence programme: living costs, travelling, insurance and materials. These costs vary with each candidate and therefore must be agreed on an individual basis, depending on the sponsor and residence programme in question.

Different residence programmes for artists and curators are available throughout the year; these are subject to demand and the availability of spaces. Each residence programme lasts a minimum of one week, but it has no maximum duration. Networking activities are not available from 20 July to 1 September.

studios & flats: the residence program provides a studio flat where the resident artist or curator can live and work. A workshop space is also available where artists can work on projects which are impossible to realise in the studio flat. The flat provides accommodation for a maximum of two people. As well as these spaces, qwatz has developed a programme to support the resident’s individual research needs. This means helping them manage relations so that they can work smoothly towards achieving their goals.
