- Favorire il confronto e lo scambio locale e internazionale nel campo dell’arte contemporanea;
- Offrire al territorio romano l’occasione di collaborazioni mirate con professionisti riconosciuti, sulla base di interessi specifici, legati alle attività dei singoli interlocutori;
- Utilizzare fattivamente l’arte come strumento di informazione, promozione e innovazione;
- Ampliare il pubblico interessato all’arte contemporanea tramite mostre, incontri, proiezioni e workshop.

qwatz is a residence programme based in Rome, conceived and set up to provide support to artists and curators who would like to develop their own individual artistic research during a stay in the city. The qwatz residence programme helps artists and curators by providing them with constant networking services, advice and technical support; at the same time putting them into contact with a network of professionals working in Rome, Italy and abroad who are connected in some way with their particular area of interest. It also organises special studio visits for programme participants.
qwatz also provides its resident artists and curators with a flat and studio where they can live and work.
Our aims are:
- To promote the discussion and exchange of ideas locally and internationally in the field of contemporary art;
- To give the Rome Region the chance to collaborate with professionals from specialised fields whose interests are connected with those of the programme’s participants;
- To use art effectively as a means for informing and promoting ideas and innovation;
- To increase the public’s interest in contemporary art through exhibitions, group events, video and film projections, and workshops.
qwatz is a partner within RESIDENZAITALIA, a network set up by the FARE association in Milan to promote cultural activities, including Italian residency programmes for artists and curators in Italy, and provide the support to enable them to travel between and around Italy’s different regions.
